Tiger Global has become the top investor in the Indian unicorns overtaking Sequoia as the New York-based investment fund invested in 15 startups in 2021 so far.

The global investor participated in 15 deals worth $1.74 billion in the first half of 2021. This is against the whole 2020 when Tiger participated in or led investments into 13 deals worth $1.32 billion.

Sequoia has invested in 18 of the 52 Indian unicorns. Sequoia was titled the top investor in Indian unicorns last year by a Hurun report. Meanwhile, Tiger Global is backing 25 of them, making it an investor in almost 50% of the Indian unicorns.
