Scientists at Purdue University may have an alternative to using ACs, in a bid to prevent environmental damage.
They have created a white paint that may be capable of keeping surfaces cooler by 10 degrees celsius than its ambient temperature. The radioactive paint, researchers claim, can help maintain a lower temperature even in direct sunlight as it reflects more UV rays, almost 95.5%, as opposed to normal white paint.
After multiple options, they finally narrowed down to a combination of paint relying heavily on calcium carbonate. The structure of the chemical compound allows it to reflect away heat.
