Lonely Planet recently revealed its 'Ultimate Travel List' which is a compilation of the greatest places to experience on Earth, in a definitive ranking. The list includes 500 most thrilling and interesting places on the planet.
Petra in Jordan topped the list for its 'eternal air of mystery'. The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador took the second spot followed by Australia's Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
Among the others who made it to the top 10 were Temples of Angkor, Cambodia , the Yellowstone National Park in the United States of America and Annapurna circtuit in Nepal.
The list was compiled after votes from readers and experts. Destinations managing tourism sustainably were granted extra points!
