The illiterate are a burden on the country: Home Minister Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah in an interview to Sansad TV said that illiterate people are a burden on the country. Explaining his remark, he said that how can an uneducated person who neither knows the fundamental rights given to them by the Constitution nor the fundamental duties expected of them be a good citizen. 

The Home Minister also spoke about how the Modi government has contributed towards increasing enrolment in schools.

He also highlighted how PM Narendra Modi had started an enrolment drive when he was chief minister of Gujarat which led to schoold dropout rate in the state decreasing from 37% to 1%.
