Stepping up its efforts to be more sustainable and tackle plastic pollution, beauty giant The Body Shop has announced that it will purchase 250 tonnes of recycled plastic from Bengaluru to use in nearly 3 million haircare bottles by the end of 2019. Moreover, the brand will also be relaunching its in-store Recycle Rewards scheme, through which customers will be able to earn vouchers for bringing in their used bottles. This scheme has been launched in collaboration with ethical sourcing platform Plastics For Change. The recycled plastic being purchased will be sourced via a local partner called Hasiru Dala that fights for waste picker rights.
