A report from CloudSEK warns that there has been a significant increase in YouTube videos containing links to stealer malware in their descriptions since November 2022, with a 200-300 percent rise month-on-month.
These videos often pose as tutorials on how to download cracked versions of paid software such as Photoshop or Premiere Pro, but instead install malware on the user's computer that can steal confidential information like passwords or bank account numbers.
There has also been a rise in the use of AI-generated videos to make the content appear more trustworthy.
