The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed telecom operators to take action against the misuse of telemarketing message templates within 30 days to curb annoying messages. TRAI observed that some telemarketers are misusing headers and content templates of enterprises, leading to confusion among recipients of messages and misuse by some entities for their gains. Telecom operators must re-verify all headers registered on blockchain-based messaging platforms and block unverified headers within 30 days. TRAI has asked telecom operators to temporarily deactivate all headers that remain unused for 30 days and develop a system within 60 days to reactivate headers for messages and ensure each header is distinct.
