Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambition for 2023 is to achieve Rs 1 lakh crore in mobile phone exports. The Prime Minister hopes that this industry be among India's top 10 export categories.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, told PTI that the government will take all necessary steps to strengthen the country's electronics manufacturing environment.

However, the minister did not go into detail about the precise actions that are being considered.

"We are going to complement our mobile phone successes by broadening and deepening the ecosystem. The deepening strategy has been there in semiconductor space. It is very clear we want to do more in our component industry. In the broadening, while we are growing in mobile phone space, we want to do well in IT server and hardware space, wearable and hearable space. These are all areas that are fast growing globally," Chandrasekhar said.
