Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset launched, brings generative AI to mid-range smartphones

Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mid-range chipset. 

It introduces several new features. These include compatibility with Google Ultra HDR in Android 14, innovative face detection, spatial audio with head tracking, and multi-device connectivity. 

The "AI Remosaic" feature and the ability to capture images from three cameras simultaneously are notable additions for photography enthusiasts.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 stands out for its state-of-the-art architecture, developed using TSMC's 4nm process. 

This chipset is designed to enhance both the power and efficiency of smartphones, featuring a 1+3+4 CPU layout with varying core speeds. These developments contribute to a more responsive and energy-efficient smartphone experience.

When it comes to CPU performance, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 shows an impressive 15% improvement over its predecessor. 

This enhancement ensures faster processing speeds, making smartphones quicker in handling tasks and running applications.

The GPU performance of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is noteworthy, exhibiting an increase of over 50%.

This improvement translates into better graphics and smoother visual experiences, particularly in gaming and high-definition video playback.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 AI Performance

A significant leap is seen in the AI performance of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. 

With a 60% improvement in AI efficiency, powered by the Hexagon NPU, this chipset enables advanced AI-based functionalities like enhanced facial recognition and smarter camera capabilities.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is equipped with the Snapdragon X63 5G modem, supporting ultra-fast 5 Gbps downloads. 

It also includes the latest in WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 technologies, ensuring swift and reliable wireless connections.

Availability

The availability of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is eagerly anticipated in the smartphone market. 

Leading manufacturers like Honor and Vivo are planning to incorporate this chipset into their upcoming models, with Honor expected to feature it in the Honor 100, and Vivo likely to use it in its V30 series.
