A worrying incident involving a smartphone explosion has emerged, shifting focus from the usual suspects of lower-tier Android phones to a potentially higher-end device. A man from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh faced a harrowing ordeal when his iPhone abruptly exploded inside his trouser pocket while he was at home.

A Businessman's Unexpected Ordeal

Prem Raj Singh, a real estate businessman of 47 years, reported that his phone suddenly became a hot phone in his pocket, emitting smoke soon after. The unexpected event led to burn injuries on his left thigh and thumb, necessitating medical attention. He recounted, "I took the phone out of my pocket and it exploded with a loud sound, splitting into two pieces." Remarkably, there was no evidence of any external factors, such as the device being on a charger or overheating from extended use.

Is it an Older iPhone Model?

Details from ETV Bharat highlighted that the malfunctioning device was an Apple iPhone. Although the exact model wasn't specified, the accompanying image suggested it might be an older iPhone 8 or iPhone 7. Singh, a long-term iPhone user, expressed his disappointment in the brand, especially after witnessing the phone being split into two pieces, showing clear burn marks all over.

Seeking Justice and Ongoing Investigations

Taking the matter seriously, Singh lodged a complaint against Apple at the Mahua Khera police station. The investigation is presently underway, with appropriate action expected soon. While the exact cause of this explosion remains uncertain, past experiences indicate that such events often arise due to faulty batteries or short circuits.

Recalling a Previous Incident

It's worth noting that this isn't the first instance of an iPhone explosion. Back in 2021, a man from Melbourne reported that his iPhone X led to second-degree burns on his body.
