Samsung is advancing its commitment to DIY device repairs by broadening its 'Self-Repair Program' to Galaxy smartphone users across Europe. This step towards promoting the 'right to repair' was announced across several regions today, including the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Sweden, following the program's initial launch in the United States in 2022. Under this expanded program, European owners of Samsung Galaxy devices will be able to access official parts for self-repairs through repair kits.
Initially, Samsung will be offering these kits for specific devices, namely:
Galaxy S20/+/Ultra
Galaxy S21/+/Ultra
Galaxy S22/+/Ultra
Galaxy Book Pro/360 (15.6-inch models)
These parts will be distributed through authorized partners like ASWO in the UK, Germany, Poland, and France. While Samsung hasn't released details regarding localized pricing for these European repairs, the extension of the program is a positive step. The ability to repair one's smartphone or laptop independently, usually at a lower cost, is a significant advantage, and it's commendable that Samsung is making this option available to a wider customer base.
