The Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 were introduced on September 12 at Wonderlust alongside the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The two smartwatches, which come with significant enhancements, have now gone on sale in India.
Starting at a price of ₹41,900 in India, the Apple Watch Series 9 is available in an array of colours including Midnight, Pink, (Product) Red, Starlight, and Silver.
You can choose between aluminium and stainless steel body finishes. The stainless steel version comes in Gold, Graphite, and Silver variations.
For the more premium stainless steel models, you have two size options: 41mm and 45mm, with price tags of ₹70,900 and ₹75,900, respectively. On the other hand, the 45mm aluminium model is listed at ₹44,900.
On the other hand, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 price in India is set at ₹89,900. It comes with Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean band options.
The Apple Watch Series 9 introduces the new S9 SiP chip, featuring a 60% increase in transistors compared to the S8 series chip.
It incorporates a 4-core NPU and a GPU that delivers 30% faster performance. With an 18-hour battery life, this device offers faster animations, enhancing the overall operating system speed.
The S9 chipset also takes care of Siri requests directly on the device, resulting in quicker responses by reducing reliance on the cloud.
Apple boasts a 25% improvement in voice dictation accuracy, and Siri now has access to your Health data, simplifying progress tracking.
One of the standout features in the Series 9 is the Double Tap gesture, reminiscent of the Apple Vision Pro headset.
This pinch motion, executed with your thumb and index finger, enables actions like play/pause music, snooze alarms, widget navigation, and answering/hanging up phone calls.
Both Bluetooth and cellular versions are available in 41mm and 45mm sizes for the Apple Watch Series 9. The display can now reach over 2000 nits for excellent visibility even in low light conditions.
The Series 9 incorporates a new UWB chip, significantly improving location tracking accuracy, including finding and pinging your paired iPhone. Enhanced HomePod integration is also part of the package.
Moving to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, it shares the updated UWB chip for superior location tracking and the new Apple S9 SiP with the Series 9.
It maintains its large 49mm case and 1.92-inch LTPO OLED display, now capable of reaching peak brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits.
While its battery life remains at 36 hours, low-power mode can now extend it to 72 hours.
The Modular Ultra watch face on the Watch Ultra 2 utilises the display's outer border to provide users with comprehensive information, and it can now activate night mode automatically based on ambient light levels.
On the software front, WatchOS 10 brings enhancements, including the ability to connect via Bluetooth with cycling peripherals such as power metre pedals for reliable data.
