British chipmaker Arm is reportedly developing its own semiconductor chips to showcase the capabilities of its products as it seeks to attract new customers and boost growth after its IPO later this year.

The company is partnering with manufacturing firms  to develop these chips for gadgets.

Arm, which supplies intellectual property to many chipmakers - especially in mobile phones - reportedly has no plans to sell or licence the product, and is only working on a prototype.

According to industry executives, Arm's newest chip (under development for the past six months) is "more advanced" than its past products.
