Taliban leader Anas Haqqani visited the shrine of Mahmud Ghazni, who attacked the iconic Somnath Temple in Gujarat in the 17th century.

Haqqani also shared a few pictures along with the tweet purportedly showing Taliban soldiers at Ghazni's shrine while hailing him as "a renowned Muslim warrior".

The Taliban praised the destruction of the idol of Somnath at the historic Hindu temple in India.

The contemporary Somnath temple's reconstruction was started under the orders of the first Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and was completed in May 1951 after his death. At present, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the chairman of Shree Somnath Mandir trust.
