A Taliban commander and senior leader of the Haqqani Network, Anas Haqqani, met former Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday for talks on formation of a new government.
The Haqqani Network an important faction of the Taliban was accused over recent years of some of the most deadly militant attacks in Afghanistan.

The development comes amid efforts to form a government in Afghanistan after the Taliban took control and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
Karzai was accompanied by the old government's main peace envoy, Abdullah Abdullah, in the meeting, the Taliban official said
