T20 World Cup 2021: Mohammad Rizwan breaks Chris Gayle's record

Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan broke Chris Gayle's record of scoring the maximum number of runs in a calendar year, during his team's Super 12 match against Scotland on Sunday. Rizwan who scored 15 off 19 balls, passed Gayle's 1,165 runs, which he amassed in 36 matches in 2015 in 41 matches.

The 29-year-old Pakistani cricketer now has 1676 runs. He also has the record number of T20 runs in a calendar year after he scored 966 runs in 22 matches in 2021. Following him is the Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam who has collected 787 runs in 22 matches. 

After winning all their Super-12 matches, Pakistan is set to face Australia in the World T20 semis on Thursday.
