IPL 2022 CSK vs KRR, Match 1 Highlights:
Kolkata register a stunning win in their first match of the IPL 2022 season. Kolkata Knight Riders' openers took their team to a great start, hence the loss of wickets in the later overs did not hurt the team much. The Shreyas Iyer-led side lost Venkatesh Iyer early, who was caught behind the stumps at Dwayne Bravo's ball after he scored 16 off 16. His opening partner Ajinkya Rahane held the fort for some time, but Mitchell Santner got him too. Rahane scored a stunning 44 of 34. Before him, Dwayne Bravo removed Nitish Rana too who had put 17 balls 21 on board.
Earlier, a sensational unbeaten 50 by MS Dhoni helped Chennai post a 132 run target. MSD along with skipper Ravindra Jadeja added some vigour to a sinking Chennai as they steadied the game and added 47 runs in the last 3 overs. A powerful beginning for the Shreyas Iyer-led-side as Chennai quickly lost 5 wickets. While Umesh Yadav sent back the Chennai openers, Varun Chakravarthy scalped Uthappa'swickets. Sunil Narine took Ambati Rayudu's
wicket. The openers failed to impress as Gaikwad and Conway respectively scored 0 and 3.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and elected to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This is the first time in IPL history that MS Dhoni is not leading the CSK side.

Going by the stats of previous seasons, CSK have an upper hand going into IPL 2022 opener. In 27 matches played so far, Chennai won 17 matches while Kolkata managed to win only 8. CSK defeated KKR in all three matches played during IPL 2021.
Dwayne Bravo is on the verge of becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL history as he is just four wickets away from breaking Lasith Malinga's record of 170 wickets. If he manages to take four wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders today then he will add yet another record in his stellar IPL career.
Left-handed batter Pratham Singh boasts of a solid academic background having completed his engineering and cracked India's top business school, ISB, but all he is really passionate about is cricket.
The 29-year-old from Delhi has been a consistent performer for Railways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and even though he was picked up by now-defunct IPL franchise Gujarat Lions in 2017, he didn't get any game time.
A five-year long wait followed, which finally ended when he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders at the last mega auction.
Singh is now eager to prove his mettle at the Indian Premier League, a stage where many dreams have been realised over the years.
"It is a very good opportunity for any domestic cricketer and I have been doing well for Railways. In IPL, even one innings can change your life. If you can do well, you have an opportunity to play for the country," Singh said.
MS Dhoni resignation from CSK's captaincy has also put the spotlight on Ravindra Jadeja, who will be captaining a high-profile team for the very first time.
Jadeja's stellar form in international cricket over the last couple of years would surely give him the confidence to lead from the front and in times of crisis, he will anyway have Dhoni by his side.
As India's biggest cricket extravaganza is set to begin from Saturday, RCB's newly-appointed captain Faf du Plessis reunited with his former teammate MS Dhoni during the net sessions.
du Plessis was instrumental in CSK's success during previous season of IPL. However, Chennai failed to bag the South African during the Mega Auctions. READ MORE
