Lucknow, Oct 13 (PTI) - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the active engagement of over 1.05 lakh Yuvak and Mahila Mangal Dals throughout the state. These groups have been equipped with sports kits including volleyballs, footballs, and badminton rackets to boost grassroots sports and community participation. Addressing a distribution event in Lucknow, Adityanath emphasized that sports should start at the village panchayat level and progressively advance to block, assembly, and parliamentary levels. Sports maintain individual health and foster teamwork spirit. He noted that competitions starting in villages could evolve into larger tournaments at MLA and MP levels. Drawing parallels with Ramlila performances organized by village committees, the chief minister said community-led sports initiatives enhance unity. Just as communities unite for Ramlila, they should promote sports and cultural programs for overall development. Adityanath also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiatives such as Khelo India, Fit India, and Sansad Khel Mahotsav. According to Adityanath, the current Vidhayak Khel Mahotsav provides platforms for youth to showcase their talent in a competitive spirit. He encouraged Yuvak and Mahila Mangal Dals to engage further by promoting social, cultural, and folk traditions. Cultural events that revive ancestral traditions through folk songs and performances are important alongside sports meets. Citing his visit to Sonbhadra, he mentioned organized inclusive events with cultural and yoga activities involving elders. This aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of inclusive progress, encompassing sports and various talents and traditions. Furthermore, Adityanath highlighted the role of Mahila Mangal Dals in Mission Shakti's fifth phase, calling for heightened awareness of women's welfare and empowerment programs at the grassroots. The Yuvak and Mahila Mangal Dal initiatives by Uttar Pradesh's Youth Welfare Department engage rural youth and women in multidisciplinary activities, enhancing leadership and community development.
