Dubai, Sep 4 (PTI): Fast bowler Matiullah Khan and spinner Simranjeet Singh have been named in the 17-member squad announced by the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming Asia Cup, which kicks off on September 9.
These are the only changes to the current UAE squad, which is currently participating in a tri-series with Afghanistan and Pakistan in Sharjah.
The Emirates Cricket Board, in a statement on its website, confirmed, "Prolific opener Muhammad Waseem will captain the 17-member UAE squad in the World Asia Cup 2025, set to begin in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 9."
The UAE, guided by former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput, has been placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and Oman.
Their campaign will begin against India on September 10 in Dubai, followed by matches against Oman and Pakistan on September 15 in Abu Dhabi and September 17 in Dubai, respectively, before the Super Four stage.
