New York, Sep 5 (AP) - Boxing legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are scheduled for a remarkable bout in early 2026.

Tyson, who will celebrate his 60th birthday next year, is staging a comeback after his previous defeat by Jake Paul in an eight-round match. On the other side, we have Mayweather, aged 48, who remains undefeated and commented that this "exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Despite the absence of specifics like date or location, CSI Sports, the boxing promotion company, shared the announcement on Thursday, marking the beginning of a new media streaming partnership associated with this bout.

Tyson expressed his astonishment, stating, “When CSI reached out to me about stepping back into the ring with Floyd Mayweather, my initial thought was, 'No way this happens.' But, Floyd said yes.”

"This matchup is something neither the world nor I envisioned. Nonetheless, boxing has ventured into a realm of unpredictability—making this encounter as surprising as it gets," Tyson noted.

While Tyson formerly reigned as a heavyweight champion, Mayweather has clinched titles across five weight classes, topping out at the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds. Mayweather's last official fight was in 2017 against MMA star Conor McGregor.

This fight, along with his high-profile victories over Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez, constitutes boxing's three highest-grossing bouts.

“My career spans 30 years, and no fighter has ever damaged my legacy,” Mayweather confidently stated.

“When I commit to something, it’s going to be monumental and legendary. I'm unrivaled in the business of boxing. This exhibition will undoubtedly provide fans with a thrilling spectacle.” (AP) PDS PDS
