London, Sep 8 (AP) Tottenham Hotspur has firmly declared that the club is not up for sale, following the dismissal of two initial takeover interest inquiries.

According to a statement issued late on Sunday, one of the parties expressing interest was PCP International Finance Limited. This is the investment entity led by Amanda Staveley, who notably facilitated the 2021 acquisition of Newcastle United, primarily financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Scrutiny over Tottenham's future peaked after the abrupt exit of its long-serving chairman Daniel Levy last week.

ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, which holds an estimated 87% share of the club, is predominantly owned by the family trust of British billionaire Joe Lewis. Lewis has confessed to insider trading and conspiracy charges in the past year. It's been reported that the Levy family controls approximately 30% of ENIC.

The Tottenham board clarified having “received, and unequivocally rejected, separate preliminary expressions of interest in relation to proposals to acquire" ENIC. A second proposal reportedly came from an investor group led by Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng, through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

The board's statement firmly stated, “The board of the club and ENIC confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale,” adding that “ENIC has no intention to accept any such offer to acquire its interest in the club.”

Tottenham last week assured that “no changes to the ownership or shareholder structure of the club” would result from Levy's exit. Levy served as the Premier League's longest-tenured chairman over his nearly 25-year role, often proving to be a divisive presence.

This season, Tottenham finds itself in the Champions League after ending a 17-year trophy drought by clinching the Europa League title in May. (AP)
