London, Aug 5 (AP) Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday, facing charges of five counts of rape.

The charges, which also include one count of sexual assault, are linked to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

Partey's legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously stated that he "denies all the charges against him" and is eager for the chance "to finally clear his name."

On his arrival at court, Partey was seen wearing a dark zip-up sweater and carrying a suit jacket.

According to police, the investigation into Partey, who is currently a free agent following the expiration of his Arsenal contract at the end of last season, was initiated in February 2022 following a report of rape.

The five rape charges involve accusations from two different women, while the sexual assault charge involves a separate third woman.
