New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) - Shubman Gill, India's newly-appointed ODI cricket captain, shared his intentions to adopt the "calmness" displayed by his predecessor, Rohit Sharma, as he prepares to take charge during the upcoming tour of Australia.
Gill, aged 25, who has already made his mark as the leader of India's Test cricket team, will step into his ODI captaincy role in a three-match series against Australia from October 19 to 25.
"The calmness of Rohit bhai and the friendships that he created among the group, I want to imbibe that," Gill mentioned when queried about his expanded responsibilities before the second Test against the West Indies, set to begin on Friday.
Additionally, Gill addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the future of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both cricketers have now limited their play to ODIs after stepping away from T20 Internationals and Test formats.
"The two have won so many games for India. Very few have so much skill and experience. We need them," Gill affirmed.
