After 24 days of demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, the protesting wrestlers are now contemplating taking their agitation to the larger venue of Ram Lila ground, with the goal of transforming it into a "national movement."
Chandrashekhar Azad, the president of the Bhim Army, joined the wrestlers at Jantar Mantar and suggested that shifting the protest to Ram Lila Maidan would amplify their cause. On Tuesday, he returned to the site with his supporters, urging the wrestlers to consider relocating after May 21, the deadline set by Khap panchayats for the government to take action against Brij Bhushan.
Sakshi, in response, stated that the decision to move the protest to Ram Lila ground would be discussed among the wrestlers. However, it remains unclear whether the entire demonstration will shift or if Jantar Mantar will continue to serve as a simultaneous site for their agitation.
Vinesh, on the previous day, expressed that the wrestlers felt constrained and marginalized at Jantar Mantar, indicating a willingness to protest at different locations. She also raised concerns about the wrestlers being stalked at the current protest site.
While the ad-hoc committee established by the Indian Olympic Association has assumed control of the national federation from WFI officials, the wrestlers persist in their demand for former WFI chief Brij Bhushan's arrest.
Azad emphasized that the wrestlers should decide on May 21 whether they wish to remain at the current protest site or escalate the movement further. He assured full support for their cause and refrained from making decisions on their behalf.
To expand their reach and raise awareness about the alleged harassment they endured under Brij Bhushan, the wrestlers organized a march at Connaught Place on Monday. Continuing their efforts, they planned another procession from Jantar Mantar to Hanuman temple near Connaught Place on Tuesday.
Moreover, the wrestlers expressed intentions to internationalize their "agitation" by engaging with Olympic medalists and athletes from other countries to highlight their plight.
