Women's world number 1 Iga Swiatek failed to break Martina Hingis' 25-year-old record after she was knocked out of this year's Wimbledon. She lost to French veteran Alize Cornet in the third round 4-6, 2-6.

Both Hingis and Swiatek now hold the record of winning 37 matches in a row. Tennis veteran Hingis made the record in 1997.

The Polish player had not lost a match since her defeat to Jelena Ostapenko in February and since then the current French Open champion had won six consecutive titles.

Reacting to her defeat, Swiatek said that she was confused about her tactics during the match and for sure, it wasn't a good performance by her.
