From battling a major wrist injury in 2022 to becoming the first unseeded Ladies' Singles Champion in the Open Era, Marketa Vondrousova scripted history on July 15, 2023.

The Centre Court of the All England Club erupted in cheers as the Czech swept a 6-4, 6-4 shock victory over Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in Saturday's final.

As the first unseeded woman in the Wimbledon final in 60 years, Vondrousova was a heavy underdog against sixth-ranked Jabeur.

But the 24-year-old Czech upset the odds to win her maiden Grand Slam title at the second attempt after losing to Ash Barty in the 2019 French Open final.
