The annual Slush Cup and Cardboard Canoe Race took place at the Castle Mountain Resort in Alberta where dozens of daredevils participated in the bizarre competition.

The Cardboard Canoe Race saw people create and decorate their own canoes out of cartons and go down the slope in it, trying to reach and jump into a man-made pond at the end of the line.

All in minus temperatures and with freezing water.

About 15 canoes with varying numbers of people on board took part in the race.

Also, some 80 skiers and snowboarders attempted to cross the pond following the descent from the slope.

Some only made it as far as halfway through the slope and got stuck in the snow, while others enjoyed an icy bath at the final point.
