US Open 2022: Iga Swiatek beats Ons Jabeur to win her first title at the Flushing Meadows

Iga Swiatek solidified her place at the top of the women's rankings as she won the US Open on Saturday, This is her 2nd Grand Slam title of the year. 

The 21-year-old added her first hard-court major to her two French Open victories by defeating Ons Jabeur 6-2, 7-6 (5) at the Flushing Meadows in an hour and 50 minutes.

After losing to Elena Rybakina at Wimbledon, Jabeur was competing in her second straight grand slam final. She made a comeback attempt in the second set, but Swiatek held firm to win it in a tie-break.

This was Swiatek’s 10th straight win in a final as she became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to claim 7 titles in a season.
