Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty claimed another first in their special career as the Indian badminton pair attained the number 1 spot in the new BWF Men's Doubles ranking.
What made the feat special was the fact that they became the first-ever Indian Badminton pair to be ranked number 1. Apart from that, it is the first time in their careers that the duo rose to the top of the rankings.
It came following a successful Asian Games campaign where Satwik and Chirag clinched Men’s Doubles Gold in Hangzhou.
They beat their South Korean opponents in straight games to win India’s first-ever badminton gold in the Asian Games.
Satwik and Chirag have now aggregated 92411 points from 18 tournaments this year, 2000 points ahead of the second-placed duo.
