Satwik-Chirag reach career-high world no. 3 ranking after winning Indonesia Open

Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty achieved a remarkable milestone in their careers as they secured the coveted World No. 3 ranking.

The pair recently clinched the title of Indonesia Open champions, defeating reigning world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia in straight games.

Their victory in the Super 1000 event not only marks a historic moment for India but also continues their exceptional performance in 2023.

The updated rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) also shed light on the positions of other Indian shuttlers.

In the men's singles category, HS Prannoy maintained his number 9 spot despite a loss to World No. 1 Victor Axelsen in the Indonesia Open semifinals.

Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth made a significant leap of three places, securing the 19th position, while Lakshya Sen climbed two notches to claim the 18th spot.

Promising shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat also soared up the rankings, reaching a career-high position of world number 30, marking a jump of four places.

The women's singles category witnessed positive movements as well, with PV Sindhu, a double Olympic medalist, climbing two places to reach world number 12.

Saina Nehwal, a veteran in the sport, also made progress, rising to world number 31 after moving up by one place.

In doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand maintained their 16th place ranking, while Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam slipped two places to secure the 41st position.

The Indian mixed pair of Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy experienced a positive shift, climbing two places to reach world number 33.

Tanisha Crasto and Ishan Bhatnagar, another Indian duo, slipped one place to world number 38.
