The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has decided to adopt a greener and more sustainable technology that will allow the sport to be played on a non-watered pitch.

While talking to Times of India, FIH's Sport and Development Director, Jon Wyatt said that the 2024 Paris Olympics hockey tournament is going to be the last time when the sport will be played on watered turf.

Hockey was first played on an artificial surface in the Olympics during the 1976 Montreal Games when US-based company AstroTurf laid the artificial pitch.
