Mirabai Chanu, the Olympic silver medallist, faced unexpected challenges in the 49kg Weightlifting event at the Asian Games, falling short of a podium finish.

According to reports, the 29-year-old was not at her best during the event due to an injury she suffered in training on Friday.

Chanu could only manage to lift 83kg in Snatch, which put her in 6th position on the leaderboard. She then went on to make amends in Clean & Jerk by lifting 108kg in her first attempt to jump up to fourth.

However, the next two attempts to lift 117kgs didn't go as planned for her as she injured herself during her final lift and had to be carried off the platform by her coach Vijay Sharma.
