IOC President, Thomas Bach, reaffirmed the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics after an IOC board meeting on Thursday in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The organisation said they will "monitor" the situation leading up to the Games in France next year, but for the time being, they cannot call a time on if they will change their decision.

The IOC recommended excluding Russian and Belarusian athletes on security grounds last year following Russia's invasion of Ukraine but has recently sought to create a pathway for them to return to competition.
