Two-time champion Naomi Osaka suffered a first-round exit from the US Open as Danielle Collins thrashed her in straight sets 7-6, 6-3. This was the first time in 4 meetings that America's Collins managed to beat Osaka.
The former World number 1 from Japan on the other hand has now slid to rank 44 in women's singles as she also crashed out of the French Open round 1 this year.
