Disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was found guilty of sexually abusing female gymnasts, was stabbed multiple times in a federal prison in Florida.
According to the Associated Press, the attack took place on Sunday at the United States Penitentiary Coleman. Nassar was reportedly stabbed in the back and chest during the altercation. As of Monday, he was said to be in stable condition, according to the report.
Nassar is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence for his convictions in both state and federal courts. He confessed to sexually assaulting athletes during his time at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, where he worked with Olympic gymnasts.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to charges of possessing child pornography.
During the victim impact statements in 2018, numerous athletes testified that they had informed adults, including coaches and trainers, about Nassar's abuse over the span of more than two decades, but their reports were not acted upon.
