Aryna Sabalenka's quest to defend her Australian Open title remains firmly on course as she secured her spot in the Melbourne final, avenging last year's US Open loss to Coco Gauff in a hard-fought semi-final clash.

In a tense and error-prone first set, Belarusian second seed Sabalenka faced off against American fourth seed Gauff. The set witnessed a flurry of breaks, with both players displaying signs of nervousness. Ultimately, it was Sabalenka who capitalized on her opportunities, claiming the first set with a score of 7-6 (7-2).

The second set continued to be closely contested, but Sabalenka, known for her fierce determination, seized her chance late in the set. She executed a decisive move, securing a 6-4 victory and booking her place in the final.

Sabalenka's opponent in the highly anticipated final will be Chinese 12th seed Zheng Qinwen. The 21-year-old Zheng achieved a significant milestone by reaching her first-ever Grand Slam final. She did so by ending the remarkable run of Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska, defeating her with a score of 6-4 6-4 in the second semi-final.

Zheng's impressive journey to the final aligns with the 10th anniversary of Li Na's historic victory, making her bid to become the second Chinese woman to win the Australian Open even more special.

Following her victory, Zheng expressed her excitement, stating, "It feels unbelievable. I'm super excited to have such a great performance and arrive in the final."
