Indian ace Tennis player Sania Mirza's Grand Slam journey came to a heartbreaking end as she lost the Australian Open Mixed Doubles final alongside her partner Rohan Bopanna at the Rod Laver arena.

Brazil's Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos who fought neck to neck to win the first set, eased past the Indian duo in their next set to win their first-ever mixed doubles Grand Slam in straight sets of 7-6, 6-2.

The 2023 Australian Open final was the 11th Grand Slam final of the 36-year-old Hyderabad-based star's fabled career.

Interestingly, Sania Mirza who played her final game with Bopanna also played her first mixed doubles at the age of 14 alongside the 42-year-old star. Her professional career started in Melbourne in 2005 and won her first Grand Slam at Australian Open in 2009.

Mirza finished her Grand Slam journey with 6 titles, 3 in mixed doubles and as many in women's doubles. The WTA 1000 event in Dubai, which begins next month will be her final appearance on the court.
