In a surprising turn of events, Archana Kamath, the only Indian player to secure a win during India's quarterfinal loss against Germany at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has decided to retire from professional table tennis at just 24 years old.

The news has taken many by surprise, especially given her significant contribution to the team that made history by reaching the quarterfinals.

Reports suggest that after a heartfelt conversation with her coach, Anshul Garg, Kamath made the difficult decision to step away from the sport to pursue her education in the USA. Her father, Girish Kamath, confirmed that Archana has chosen to focus on her full-time studies, leaving the sport without any regrets.
