Months after Victoria pulled out of hosting the next edition of the Commonwealth Games, another Australian city has withdrawn as host.
Gold Coast was to jointly host the 2026 Games with Perth after a 700 million AUD bid however, the city did not receive any state or central government funding, the city's mayor revealed.
In July, the state of Victoria had pulled out as host citing financial constraints.
At the same time, the CWG governing body had revealed that it was ready to delay the Games by a year to help eventual hosts prepare for the event.
But now the future of the Commonwealth Games remains unclear as 2030 host Canada's Alberta has also withdrawn its plans to host the quadrennial event
