Jaipur, Oct 22 (PTI) - Olympian Udayan Mane and standout female pro golfer Vani Kapoor are set to make their debuts at the IGPL Tour in Jaipur. Mane, who proudly represented India at the Tokyo Olympics, and Vani, known for her stellar performance on the domestic circuit, are among the top draws for this edition of the IGPL Invitational Jaipur. The event follows earlier stops in Chandigarh, Jaypee Greens NOIDA, and Pune.
The venue for this prestigious event, Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur, holds fond memories for Mane. A decade ago, he clinched his very first professional victory at this very course. "Jaipur has great memories for me. I won my first pro event here and love the city. While there's much to explore, when we come for golf, that's our primary focus. It's a challenging course, and I'm eager to get onto it," Mane said enthusiastically.
The course has been a favorable setting for others as well. Aman Raj, recovering impressively from an injury, has notched two wins at this course, with victories in 2023 and earlier in 2018. Similarly, Sachin Baisoya, who captured a title at the Indian Tour last year in Jaipur, is vying to add an IGPL title to his name this week.
Vani Kapoor too reminisced about her near victory in Jaipur during her early professional days, where she narrowly missed a title in a playoff. "I need to improve on that and maybe win this week. It will be fun competing with male pros in the field," she remarked.
This event boasts a dynamic field of 54 players, consisting of 36 male professionals, 12 female professionals, and six amateurs. Kapoor, currently the leader of the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI), has already notched four wins this year on the WGAI.
