Indore, Sep 1 (PTI) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's son, Mahanaryaman Scindia, has been unanimously elected as the president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), an official announced. Mahanaryaman, who is 29 years old and serves as the vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association, will become the youngest president of the MPCA since its establishment in 1957. He is also a third-generation royal to lead the cricket body.

MPCA's chief administrative officer, Rohit Pandit, confirmed that all positions were filled unopposed in the recent elections. The new executive members will be formally approved at the annual general meeting on Tuesday, after which they will take charge. Pandit highlighted that the executive team includes Vineet Sethia as vice-president, Sudhir Asnani as secretary, Arundhati Kherkire as joint secretary, and Sanjeev Dua as treasurer.

Sandhya Agarwal, Prasoon Kanamdikar, Rajiv Risodkar, and Vijesh Rana have been elected as committee members, while Pradeep Banerjee, Ramnik Patel, and Abhay Laghate will serve on the cricket committee.

Outgoing MPCA president Abhilash Khandekar expressed his optimism, stating, "In the last six years, the MPCA has reached several milestones. I hope the newly elected executive under Mahanaryaman Scindia's leadership will take the association to new heights." Mahanaryaman’s involvement in cricket administration has been growing over the past three years. He was appointed the vice-president of GDCA and became a lifetime MPCA member in 2022. He also holds the position of president of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League (MPL), which was launched in Gwalior in 2024.

The Scindia family has played a significant role in the state's cricket administration for decades. Mahanaryaman's late grandfather, Madhavrao Scindia, and his father, Jyotiraditya Scindia, have both served as MPCA presidents. About 15 years ago, State Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya challenged the dominance of the Scindia family in the MPCA. In the 2010 elections, Jyotiraditya Scindia defeated Vijayvargiya by 70 votes to win the president's post, with his faction securing all the key executive positions. Due to the Lodha Committee recommendations, Jyotiraditya Scindia and senior administrator Sanjay Jagdale had to step down from MPCA posts in January 2017 as both had served on the managing committee for more than nine years, rendering them ineligible to continue.
