New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is gearing up for a return to the course, fresh off leading Europe to an impressive back-to-back Ryder Cup victory against the United States. Donald, who masterminded a 15-13 win at Bethpage Black, marked the first European triumph on American soil since 2012. Following the memorable win at Marco Simone two years prior, Donald joins Tony Jacklin as the only European Captains to secure victories both at home and away, with Jacklin achieving this feat in 1985 and 1987.

The upcoming USD 4 million DP World India Championship this October will feature Donald's debut on Indian turf, as the former world number one brings star power to the event. He will be part of a formidable field that boasts Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, and Shane Lowry. The landmark tournament is set to take place at the iconic Delhi Golf Club from October 16-19, proudly offering the largest prize fund ever for a DP World Tour event in India.

Seven-time DP World Tour winner Donald will grace Delhi Golf Club's Lodhi Course for the first time professionally. Donald's illustrious career includes successful campaigns in Asia, highlighted by his victories at the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan in 2012 and 2013. "It's incredibly exciting to be playing in the inaugural DP World India Championship. It's shaping up to be a fantastic field, and I'm sure the event will be a great addition to the Race to Dubai. It's always a pleasure to play in a new location, and I'm looking forward to teeing it up in front of the fans in Delhi," Donald expressed.

The global talent congregating at the Delhi Golf Club will further feature American Major champion Brian Harman, alongside fellow American and two-time PGA TOUR victor Ben Griffin, who made his Ryder Cup debut in New York this year. Former European Ryder Cup icons, such as Nicolas Colsaerts—fresh on the heels of his 500th DP World appearance—Rafa Cabrera Bello, Ross Fisher, Andy Sullivan, and Bernd Wiesberger, will also be present at the event.

The lineup is bolstered by several winners from the 2025 Race to Dubai, including American Michael Kim, who celebrated his first DP World Tour win in France recently, South Africa's five-time winner Thriston Lawrence, and Frenchmen Martin Couvra and Adrien Saddier. English competitors such as Richard Mansell, John Parry, Jordan Smith, and Spain's Hero Indian Open victor Eugenio Chacarra will add to the formidable field.

India's own golfing talents will seize the opportunity to shine on their home ground. Participants include two-time DP World Tour victor Shubhankar Sharma, prolific 18-time global winner Anirban Lahiri, seven-time champ Shiv Kapur, and Veer Ahlawat, who claimed his 2025 DP World Tour card by leading last season's PGTI Rankings.
