**Maharaj Makes History: First South African Spinner to Reach 200 Test Wickets** Stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj etched his name into the history books on Sunday, becoming the first South African spinner to claim 200 Test wickets. The landmark moment unfolded during the second day of the opening Test match against Zimbabwe. At 35, Maharaj has steadily evolved into South Africa’s premier spinner in Test cricket over a nine-year career. His milestone came when he dismissed Zimbabwe’s Craig Ervine, with wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne executing a precise stumping in the 34th over. Maharaj's achievement solidifies his position as South Africa’s most prolific slow bowler, having surpassed the previous record of 170 Test wickets held by former off-spinner Hugh Tayfield. Currently, Maharaj boasts 202 wickets from 59 Tests, including 11 five-wicket hauls and one instance of taking ten wickets in a match. In addition to his Test achievements, Maharaj has amassed an impressive 631 wickets from 166 First-Class matches. In the ongoing match, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 251, responding to South Africa’s first-innings declaration at 418 for nine. Maharaj contributed significantly with the ball, securing figures of 3/70 from 16.4 overs, while his teammate Wiaan Mulder also shone with figures of 4/50 in 16 overs.
