After a fiery knock in the last game against CSK, Faf du Plessis was looking good to replicate that in IPL 2024 Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals. However, Rovman Powell cut the RCB skipper's innings short on 17 with a screamer.

Sanju Samson gambled giving Trent Boult his 3rd consecutive over in the powerplay in order to take a wicket and Powell made sure the Kiwi pacer got rid of a dangerous Faf.

He ran in from deep midwicket and dived forward to hold on and give his side their first breakthrough.

Earlier, Samson won the toss and opted to bowl against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the eliminator.

Shimron Hetmyer returned to bolster the RR batting while RCB will go with the same side that beat Chennai Super Kings in a must-win game to seal the play-offs berth.

The winner of the eliminator will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in qualifier two. Kolkata Knight Riders are already through to the final with a win against SRH in qualifier one on Tuesday.

Teams:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru:

Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (capt), Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Siraj, Lockie Ferguson
