Rohit Sharma, the only man on the planet to hit three double tons in ODI cricket, achieved a special double hundred the moment he took the field for the Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2024 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The Hitman became the first player to play 200 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians. Overall, he is the 3rd player to play 200 matches for a single IPL franchise after MS Dhoni (CSK) and Virat Kohli (RCB).
To mark the incredible occasion, Rohit was presented with a special MI jersey by Sachin Tendulkar, with the number 200 inscribed on the back.
It was Rohit's 244th IPL match and there are 9 players to have played over 200 matches in the cash-rich league.
Rohit played his first 3 IPL seasons for the Deccan Chargers before Mumbai Indians brought him on board in the IPL 2011 auction. The Hitman was appointed as their skipper in 2013 and Mumbai won 5 IPL titles under him.
MI replaced Rohit with Hardik Pandya as their skipper for IPL 2024, ending his 10-year reign as Mumbai's captain.
