The IPL 2024 has been all about MS Dhoni's swansong and each match is met with anticipation of a farewell.
Chennai Super Kings' beloved home ground, the Chepauk Stadium, was packed to the brim yet again during the CSK vs KKR game on April 08.
While chasing 138, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored the innings with his 58-ball 67 but after Shivam Dube's wicket, fans waited with bated breath to see MS Dhoni walk out, with not much left to chase.
But Ravindra Jadeja, padded up, bat in hand strode forward, much to the spectators' chagrin.
Till he turned back and returned to the dugout.
Amid a deafening cheer, where even Kolkata's Andre Russell covered his ears, walked out MS Dhoni, to face a mere 3 balls.
In a video released by IPL, CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande reveals that it was a prank orchestrated by Thala.
'He asked Jaddu bhai to pretend to walk out before him, I overheard it,' Deshpande said with a laugh.
'He gave a glimpse of himself to the fans and it was worth all their money,' Jadeja remarked.
