A fan in Mumbai jumped security at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium on Monday and ran up to Rohit Sharma during the Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2024 match.
Since Rohit wasn't facing him, he got scared at first before realising that it was a pitch intruder. The fan then hugged Rohit and Ishan Kishan.
The incident happened during Rajasthan's run-chase when Rohit was fielding in the slips. After meeting Rohit and Kishan, the fan ran away with his arms wide open and seemed to be celebrating. He was then grabbed by the security officials and escorted out.
Though nothing happened the incident highlighted a major lapse in security as such incidents have increased in the IPL lately.
Last week, a fan ran onto the field to meet Virat Kohli during RCB vs PBKS match at the M Chinnasamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
