Krishnappa Gowtham might be yet to play a game in IPL 2024 but he still made a huge impact in Lucknow Super Giants' home game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday night.
KKR, who were marching towards a mammoth total had Andre Russell well set. However, the big-hitting West Indian mishit a Naveen-ul-Haq delivery and the ball went miles up in the air.
It seemed that it would fall in an open space but running backwards, Gowtham pulled off a screamer to dismiss Russell for 12.
That catch reduced KKR to 167/3 and also paved way for annother wicket in the very next over.
Interestingly, he was not a part of LSG's starting XI and was substituing for Mohsin Khan, who had left the field after hitting his head on the ground while fielding.
Earlier, LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl against KKR in their Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.
LSG replaced injured pacer Mayank Yadav with Yash Thakur. KKR, on the other hand, were unchanged.
