Sunil Gavaskar opened up about his prompt decision to run up to MS Dhoni and get his autograph on his shirt.
During a chat with Star Sports, the former India captain revealed that when he got to know about Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni were going to take a lap of honour at Chepauk, he decided to create a special memory.
'That’s why I ran towards MSD to take his autograph. It was his last home game at Chepauk,' Gavaskar added.
However, he clarified that Dhoni will get a chance to play in Chennai if CSK qualify for the playoffs. 'But I decided to make that moment special,' he revealed.
Gavaskar appreciated Dhoni for acknowledging his request. 'It was a very emotional moment for me. Kapil Dev lifting the 1983 WC Trophy and MS Dhoni hitting that winning six in the 2011 WC final are the two cricketing moments I would love to see before I die,' an emotional Gavaskar further added.
