Amid Test skipper, Dean Elgar's call for 'litmus test of loyalty, South African players are likely to choose the lucrative Indian Premier League over their national duty, according to an ESPNcricinfo report.

Test players from South Africa, notably Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, have chosen to participate in the IPL rather than play in the home Test series against Bangladesh, which begins on March 31.

Earlier, due to national commitments, the majority of South African players were expected to miss the first week of the IPL, which begins March 26.

Kagiso Rabada will represent Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 while youngster Marco Jansen is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals would be banking on the services of Ngidi given it is still unclear whether Anrich Nortje is fit to play. Delhi retained Nortje ahead of the mega auctions.
